PRACTICE 5

The Body As A Place Of Kindness

Self-compassion isn't only a thought.

6 min · Beginner

The mind can argue with almost any kind sentence. “I am enough,” it says, and something inside answers, “Really?” But the body has a different relationship with compassion. It responds to touch, warmth, breath, and slowness.

A hand over the heart. A palm resting on the belly. A long exhale. These aren't decorations to the practice. They are the practice. They tell your nervous system, at a level below language, that this moment is safe.

When words feel hollow, come back to the body. The body was your first home. It is still willing to be kind to you, if you'll let it.

CLOSING AFFIRMATION

It is still willing to be kind to you, if you'll let it.

REFLECT ON THIS

Where in my body do I most need warmth today, and what would it feel like to place a hand there?
